DES MOINES, Ia – Iowa casino revenue has dropped for the first time since 1993.
The Associated Press is reporting that revenue decreased by 3.5 percent from $1.4 to $1.3 billion for the fiscal year ending June 30.
Iowa has 17 state-regulated casinos. Commission Chairman Greg Seyfer says it’s a sign the economy is taking a toll and that the state may be close to hitting the saturation point.
Ottumwa’s application for a casino next to the Bridge View Center was rejected this spring.
